Oh young Meyer, there's so much I'd like to warn you about.
This strip is based on a real experience I seem to have on a regular basis. I'm a sucker for these shows with a strong continuing narrative, but DVR's make it hard to discuss them without ruining the show for someone.
The first panel of this strip is actually a pretty good approximation of what my friend Rick and I looked like around the time Voyager was on the air. I don't miss my hair nearly as much as you might expect, but that's largely because I didn't really have good hair. I was at war with it most of the time. That said, I didn't take losing it well. My Dad is bald, all of my uncles on my Dad's side are bald, and my older brother was going bald, but I thought I would be the one to buck the trend.
I realized that the baldification process had begun one day while getting a haircut. The hair stylist was working on the top of my head and started pawing at the hair on the crown of my head in a confused manner. She looked at me puzzled and asked "When you got your last haircut, did you have them thin the hair out on top?"
I nonchalantly said something like "WHAT!?"
She asked again if I had paid someone to deliberately thin out my hair on top. She did not get a good tip.

Voyager was the reason I am no longer a Trekkie.
The episode that did it for me was when Tom Paris and his Klingon Girlfriend entered their souped up shuttle into an intergalactic Indy 500 race - which they promptly lost because they needed to have a relationship talk.
The fact that Voyager made it back to Earth was then an ironic tragedy.
First let me say that it's great to see a band like They Might be Giants get some love from you strip.
Secondly let me second what "one salient oversight" said about Voyager. I watched most of the episodes when they first ran, yet I have no idea why because I never really liked the series. Janeway was no Picard or Kirk, and the rest of the cast just sucked something aweful. And the way they ended the series was about the worst way to end a Star Trek series that I have ever seen. And thanks to Voyager I just couldn't get behind Enterprise, I was burned too badly by Voyager to invest the time into a new Star Trek series.
Thanks for bringing up both good and bad memories Scott.
But let me end this by saying that Lost has to be one of the best series ever. The writting is top notch and they have a way to drawing me in every week that it's on. I can't wait for next season.
I thought those two were new caracters before reading your news!!!
I have conversations like this with my LOST-watching friends on my vanpool. "Did you watch it?" "No..." "Gaaaaah! Hurry up and watch it so I can ask you WTF is up with Locke!!!!"
I did the same with Babylon 5 and Deep Space Nine.
Sooo... anyone have any theories on what happened to the dingy full of people when the island moved?
To Bonzogal:
The prevailing theory that I have heard about the dingy is that it moved along with the Island. Remember the island had a secondary island where the Jack, Kate, and Sawyer were held captive that would have to move along with the main island as well.
Why is the world in love again?
Why are we marching hand-in-hand?
Why are the ocean levels rising up?
It's a brand-new record, for 1990
They Might Be Giants' brand-new album,
FLOOD!
I'm your only friend,
I'm not your only friend,
But I'm a little glowing friend,
But really I'm not actually your friend,
But I am...
What I want to know is, if Flood came out in 1990 (cf. lyrics quoted by "lock") and Voyager didn't start until 1995, why does that shirt look so new?
