So, after last week the general consensus was that breaking up a single strip into four daily strips didn't work. Scott A. suggested two more things to try.

1. That I try one more time to fit my full four panel comics within a daily strip footprint.
And
2. That I try to actually produce one strip a day for awhile, just to see how that flows.

I was dubious of both ideas, but I swore to myself at the start of this project that I would keep an open mind.

I tried one, "How to answer the unanswerable" and it looked like legal fine print with some tiny drawings thrown in. Looking at it, it did occur to me that I wasn't entirely happy with the 3rd panel's joke anyway, so I cut it. The result is below.

Adams and I quickly agreed that this "Write four panels and drop the weakest" plan was worth exploring. Below are the next two day's comics.

I will throw a mention of this posting up on my news blog so you can leave comments if you wish. I'd welcome your opinions.

For those who have not been keeping up with Scott Adams' and my experiment, here are the most recent four daily samples I've sent him. They are the last four you will see in this format. I'll tell you why after the strips.

These are the last four strips you'll see that consist of one strip divided into four days' worth of material. The overwhelming feedback is that this way of handling things doesn't work as well as my normal way, and I agree. Also, we have abandoned the idea of making Basic Instructions a strip about marriage. These four strips reek of "assignment writing" and are a fine example of why nobody ever buys a collection of term papers to read at the beach.

So, as some of you may be aware, Scott Adams has posted some of my work to his blog. He only posted a couple of samples from the following series. Here's the entire series.

I'll be posting the last 72 hours from my perspective on the news blog this afternoon.

The original punchline for this one was "And I hardly ever used to menstruate." But Mr. Adams didn't think that would fly.

Here's the first strip on relationships and physics, just for comparison's sake.
